Guidelines for Making Changes
to Current Installation
Multiple Smart Array 3200 Controller
Installations
If you will be installing or replacing drives in your Compaq server, keep in mind
that:
■ Each Smart Array 3200 Controller has two independent SCSI channels,
each of which supports up to 15 drives per SCSI bus.
■ Drives may be Wide-Ultra2 SCSI, Wide-Ultra SCSI-3, Fast-Wide SCSI-2,
Fast SCSI-2, or a combination of the four in servers and storage systems that
support hot-pluggable drives.
■ Drives should not contain termination. Compaq servers and internal
cabling provide the required termination of the SCSI bus.
Table 2-1 shows the Compaq hard drives supported by the Smart Array 3200
Controller.
